The Wagon is a popular, smart bistro housed in a former pub nestled in an attractive hillside between Bury and Rochdale with superb views. The interior is understated and contemporary with well space chunky wooden tables and a muted brown and beige colour scheme. The menu is modern British with a French influence, dishes are extremely well presented and make good use of local produce as evident in the tempura of Chadwick’s Bury black pudding served with Lancashire cheese, apple bacon and mustard vinaigrette or the cornfed Goosnargh chicken with braised root vegetables, thymes, rosemary and new potatoes. There is a separate set price ‘market menu’ which and offers great value. The wine list is comprehensive and includes interesting information on the provenance of each wine.
