An 18th century limestone country house in a peaceful village is home to the award-winning Vine House restaurant with rooms. Polished wood floors, neutral colours, pale wood furniture and crisp white linen set the tone of the airy restaurant. A regularly changing menu of traditional English cuisine with continental overtones is created through the kitchen’s belief in sourcing only the finest ingredients, including seasonal local produce when available. This creativity is illustrated in a starter such as carpaccio of organic salmon with watercress and orange salad and a treacle dressing or a main course of a breast of corn fed chicken, cauliflower cream, pot-roasted potatoes and a sauce of girolles mushrooms. Homemade elderflower jelly topped with local honey and lemon syllabub is an example of the creative dessert menu.
