Just 25 minutes from Bury St Edmonds, Colchester and Ipswich is the sleepy village of Monks Eleigh. And at the heart of this picturesque Tudor village is The Swan Inn, a thatched 14th century pub which takes its food seriously. The menu is seasonal, using fresh local ingredients, there are the traditional favourites executed to perfection like fillet of cod in a tempura batter with tartar sauce, mushy peas and hand cut chips alongside more Mediterranean inspired dishes like lamb tagine with apricots and almonds served with steamed cous cous and vincigrassi; a lasagne of Parma ham, porcini mushrooms and parmesan served with rocket. The roaring log fire and outdoor seating facing the village green makes this a favoured foodie destination all year round.
