The Somerset Arms

The Somerset Arms is an elegant Georgian pub deep in the Wiltshire countryside. Recently refurbished, the pub has bare wood floors with pale green painted wood panelling. Traditional pub cast iron tables and a welcoming log fire give way to comfortable sofas and armchairs in the adjoining salon. As much local produce as possible is sourced from within a 30-mile radius of the kitchen and as a result the compact but cleverly balanced menu offers simple, imaginative choices such as starters of smoked haddock rarebit or pan-fried chicken livers with pomegranate and rocket salad. Local Stourhead estate beefsteaks are the restaurant’s speciality, and come with a Parmesan and rocket salad, roast vine tomatoes and home made chips. A well chosen wine list also has a good selection of wines by the glass.
