The Side Door is located in the heart of Liverpool’s theatre land. Cream and deep red tones, together with polished bare floorboards and candlelight create a bistro atmosphere. The kitchen is keen to source as much local produce as possible, such as asparagus from Formby and fish from nearby Fleetwood, which often arrives at the restaurant directly from the boat. The concise à la carte menu changes on a weekly basis, although some dishes keep a regular place. Fresh fish plays a major role in the eclectic menu, such as grilled hake fillet with Moroccan vegetable couscous while puddings include traditional sticky toffee pudding as well as contemporary Grappa pannacotta with poached prunes. A simple wine list offers a well-selected choice of old and new world.
