A characterful stone 17th century building, with ivy creeping over the walls, houses this award winning gastropub. The interior is quintessentially traditional English pub with a cosy bar, open fires and menus on blackboards while the restaurant sports polished dark wood tables on bare oak floor boards. Jonathan Harrison, the chef proprietor, creates his individual take on modern British cuisine with first class ingredients that are locally sourced whenever possible. Starters may include ham hock and chicken terrine with homemade Piccalilli or wood pigeon, blood orange and walnut salad, followed by main courses such as crispy duck leg with Puy lentils and mash or roasted halibut with mush peas, tartare sauce and hand cut chips. There is a fine wine list as well as a range of whiskies and real ales.
