The Plough is the epitome of a traditional rural Kentish pub. There’s an open fire, oak beams and rustic furniture. But the chalkboard menu is a notch above what you might expect. Yes, there’s shepherds pie, but with a filling made with lamb from Seasalter that’s been braised for 18 hours for extra flavour. You can enjoy a scotch egg here, but one made with Smoked haddock and served with curried cauliflower. There’s rump and sirloin steak (28 day aged Angus of course) but true connoisseurs will head straight for the rare breed Dexter rib chop, that’s particularly tender and flavoursome. Ciders and ales from the county include those made by the award winning Hop Daemon and Whitstable breweries.
