Situated in the historic cathedral quarter of Lincoln, this former bakery dating from the Victorian era has been transformed into a stylish yet informal restaurant and deli. Your meal can be enjoyed in an impressive vaulted garden room but while your surroundings may be decidedly rustic the food presents a much more sophisticated offering. The provenance of the ingredients is clear on the menu showing the restaurant’s commitment to local producers. You could savour “Peterborough Game” toasted Sicilian pistachio stuffed quail, apricot mousse and caramelised pickled baby turnips to start before moving on to hay and fresh herbs slow roasted “Peter Lundgren” Gloucester Old Spot baby pig with various trimmings. The wine list is largely dominated by European varieties with some new world wines also available.

Local Directions: On the A46 (Relief Road) follow directions for Lincoln North and follow the brown tourist signs for the Historic Centre, Cathedral and Lawns Visitor Centre by taking the 3rd exit at the roundabout for the A15 junction if approaching from the West. At the next roundabout take the 3rd exit, then at the next roundabout take the 1st exit which will bring you to Burton Road. (NB There is a Shell petrol station on the left as you turn on to Burton Road). The Old Bakery is located towards the end of the road (close to Lincoln castle walls) on the right side of the road, half way between the Museum of Lincolnshire Life and the Lawns Visitor Centre.
