A short, fresh menu full of big, unfussy flavours and even bigger portions concentrates on home cooked food using robust seasonal ingredients. Upmarket burgers, fish and chips and bangers are all present on the menu, which also reveals a more refined side with poached breast of free range Creedy Carver Farm chicken, truffled leeks, ceps, Pont Neuf potatoes and a herb reduction. Fish lovers may favour the inventive roast halibut with squash and cardamom puree. Wine is a big focus here with a list created by ex-Fortnum and Mason wine buyer Annette Deuce, bottles range from accessible to serious. Sage green paintwork, flock wallpaper, standard lamps and comfy sofas will appeal to its well-heeled Bath clientele, but try the wonderful walled courtyard tables when the weather allows.
