The Lighthouse

The Lighthouse in Aldeburgh on the Suffolk coast is smart and friendly and a hit with locals and tourists alike, offering great value for money. As a seaside bistro, seafood brought in on the Aldeburgh day boasts is the order of the day, although Suffolk meats also feature on the menu which has a strong Mediterranean influence. Carlingford oysters with shallot vinaigrette and lemon whet the appetite, before starting with the grilled goats cheese on walnut risotto with rocket pesto and later enjoying the local cod fillet with puy lentils and black Alsace bacon and spinach. The light streams into the upstairs dining room and the service is efficient yet unhurried and the ambience smart but not stuffy.
