The 16th Century Lion Hotel has played host to Charles Dickens, Darwin and Disraeli. The Hayward at The Lion Hotel has undergone a chic, stylish transformation.
After working as Head Chef at the Hayward at the Lion Hotel for the past 10 months, Paul Maders has taken over as Executive Chef, having worked previously as Head Chef for Michael Caines at ABode Manchester, Paul is relishing the challenge as the site has a function capacity for 240 covers along with the busy bar area, plus the award winning fine dining restaurant The Hayward. The Menus emphasis will be modern British, with some old Shropshire recipes given a makeover. Having gained a reputation for excellence and being awarded 2 AA rosettes along with an extremely good rating in the Michelin guide, the next year will be about pushing the standards to new heights, and exceeding customers’ expectations, trying to make The Hayward one of the most dynamic restaurants in Shropshire.

Local Directions: If you are approaching Shrewsbury from the South or East, you will pass the town's famous abbey and cross the English Bridge before coming to Wyle Cop - the hotel is at the top of the hill. If coming from the North or West, you can follow the signs for the town centre - the one-way system will guide yo to Wyle Cop, with the hotel opposite the T-junction. For parking, plan ahead - the Lion can provide space, however St Julian Friars also provide excellent parking facilities for busy days.
