The 16th-century Griffin Inn oozes old world charm with low beamed ceilings and uneven floorboards. Guests are greeted with blazing log fires in winter or can enjoy the attractive terrace in the warmer months, where they can also watch lamb and steak roasting in the wood burning oven. The bar serves comforting food which is a step above regular pub grub such as char-grilled Fletching pork chop with roasted celeriac, pancetta, fennel and salsa verde. The restaurant offers a more tranquil setting for a meal that might include fig, buffalo mozzarella and wild rocket salad with vincotto and toasted pine nuts to start followed by pan fried cod, chorizo, cherry tomatoes and cannellini bean stew. Passion fruit tart with lemon zest mascarpone makes a fitting finale.
