The Goods Shed in Canterbury is a collective of small scale local producers who come together in a impressive Victorian railway shed to sell their wares to eager foodies. On a mezzanine platform, overlooking the busy market below is the Goods Shed restaurant, which takes ingredients from the market to create a menu of locally sourced, seasonal dishes which changes twice daily. The décor is minimalist with wooden floors, exposed brick work, rustic furniture and dramatic tall ceilings and windows with dishes served on pretty, mismatched vintage china. Fresh bread is baked on the premises in the open plan kitchen. Try the hake wrapped in ham with a pea and tarragon broth or 28 Day hung steak available in rump, sirloin or fillet, served with local wild ceps.
