A picturesque, whitewashed 17th century coaching inn houses this award winning gastropub with rooms. The traditional wooden beamed interior with exposed brickwork and a wood burning stove make for cosy surroundings while crisp white tablecloths and candlelight identify the restaurant area. The kitchen firmly believes in sourcing seasonal ingredients, locally whenever possible, to produce unfussy modern British cuisine, with a nod to the Mediterranean and the Middle East. Regularly changing menus may include seared scallops with black pudding, poached quail’s egg, toasted croute, tomato sauce and micro herbs followed by a main course of steamed steak and kidney pudding, roast potato, root vegetables and onion gravy. In addition to an extensive wine list, Moscato Passito is offered as a dessert wine.
