Giaconda Dining Room is a modern European restaurant in Soho which promises tasty food and wines that are reasonably priced, accessible and intriguing. It puts on no airs and graces preferring to let its bistro style menu to express its commitment to fine food and wine.If its open, acclaimed Australian chef Paul Merrony will be at the stove. The food is influenced by type of French provincial style cooking approved of by Elizabeth David with the odd splash of Italian and Spanish flavours thrown in for good measure. A starter could be a crumble of creamed shallots and mixed mushrooms with horseradish cream or perhaps a feathery beef carpaccio. A main course could run to a classic duck confit with Lyonnaise potatoes and watercress salad. A peach melba could present an elegant finale to your meal.
