Like its sister hotel The Cavendish, the George has been tastefully renovated resulting in a stylish contemporary interior. The original stone walls and oak beams are still visible in this 500 year old coaching inn but the polished floors and up to date fabrics give a contemporary feel. Every effort is made to support Derbyshire producers and the mains could include char-grilled Castlegate fillet of beef with shin and onion pie, butternut squash fondant, roast shallots and red wine sauce. This could be sandwiched in between ham hock cannelloni with pea mousse and English mustard foam to start and for dessert, pineapple and passionfruit millefeuille with coconut ice cream.
