This long established rustic village gastropub was given a makeover in 2011, breathing new life in to the building. Exposed stone walls, a real log fire and simple wooden tables and chairs add up to an unpretentious, inviting environment in which to enjoy the cooking of Jamie Oliver alumni Gary Crossan. He uses local seasonal ingredients to create a list of classic pub dishes such as pork, red onion and sage sausages with mashed potato and rosemary gravy, as well as letting his creativity loose on the likes of Rabbit and pistachio terrine with bacon and piccalilli. On a sunny day, the Garden is the ideal spot to enjoy a glass of vintage sparkling cider before a meal.
