A splendid maple tree overlooks an adult only sun terrace and attractive gardens provide wonderful views of the South Downs at this nineteenth century country pub. As many ingredients as possible are sourced locally with roasted breast of Horsted Keynes pheasant on pearl barley and smoky bacon risotto appearing among the main course choices. Pub classics such as local pork and herb sausages with mashed potato and bitter sweet red onion jam are also done well. However, there are nods towards the Mediterranean with starters such as salt and pepper squid on smoky Basque stew on offer as well. Another draw for this pub is its popular bar which offers a good selection of wines and features a guest ale which changes every week.
