Stunning views over Mount’s Bay and Penzance Harbour are not the only reasons for visiting this pleasant hotel restaurant. Keen prices, ambitious cooking and a commitment to local sourcing also pull in the punters. Dishes change with the seasons, but generally fuse Cornish ingredients with European techniques. Kick off with River Exe mussels in a Cornish cider cream sauce and move onto roast beef with foie gras and oxtail ravioli. A tasting menu, ‘local hero’ Sunday lunches and set two- and three-course menus provide variety, while the wine list tours global vineyards, including local producer Camel Valley. The main dining room is light and airy with pictures from local artist’s adorning the walls, but on sunny days the outdoor deck is the place to be.
