Wood floors and open fires provide a welcoming atmosphere to this traditional country pub with rooms on the Longleat Estate in Wiltshire. Chef proprietor Dean Carr has the ability to provide innovative modern British cuisine as well as traditional pub grills and snacks. The market availability of seasonal fresh ingredients is key to the menu that changes daily. A complex dish of confit belly of pork with Moroccan tomato, scallops with mint and lemon cous cous may compete on the same menu with more traditional favourites such as Cumberland sausage with champ or shepherd’s pie with crushed peas. Desserts include bread and butter pudding with marmalade cream. A well chosen, and regularly changing, wine list provides a good choice from the Old and New World.
