Modelled on the kind of restaurant you would stumble upon down a side alley in a Southern French town, the Apron Stage keeps things authentic and honest. With only 18 covers in an understated, Provence meets Scandinavia styled dining room and an equally snug kitchen area, the restaurant offers a small, weekly changing blackboard menu. The menu is dictated by seasonal and market availability but expect to dine on the likes of garden sorrel and spinach soup, followed by breast of guinea fowl with twice-cooked spiced pork belly, gratin potatoes and a cider jus and warm pine nut tart with maple syrup and vanilla ice cream. A similarly select range of predominantly French wines at sensible prices accompanies. Opening times are limited, so check before you arrive.
