The Anvil Inn is a country dining pub with two self catering cottages, located in a refurbished 18th century forge. Exposed stone work, a steeply pitched wooden roof, bare floorboards, cast iron pub tables and wooden settles define the airy and bright bar area, whilst the restaurant has warm tones and sports mismatched tables and chairs in dark polished wood. The kitchen believes in sourcing the freshest local, and seasonal, ingredients whenever possible to produce an eclectic cuisine based on invention rather than pretention. This philosophy is exemplified by a starter of oak roast salmon crumpet, mature cheddar rarebit, lemon & caper dressing followed by a daube of slow braised beef in red wine with shallot marmalade and buttery mash. An extensive wine list encompasses the New World as well as Old World classics.
