This 16th century coaching inn has been refurbished and transformed into a gastropub with rooms. The head chef believes in sourcing the best quality ingredients to produce simply cooked dishes that are well presented and packed with flavour. A seasonal menu provides a range of game together with daily deliveries of fresh fish from the coast. Dishes range from modern British roast quail, confit leg, Florentine and quail jus to the oriental spices of Thai-spiced crab ravioli with tomato coulis and micro salad. Main courses include traditional pub favourites such as Walter Rose’s sausages and mash with caramelized onion gravy or a hearty venison casserole. A compact wine list offers a good range of wines from both the New and Old World.
