The Suffolk seaside village of Walberswick has been named “Britain's secret celebrity enclave on the coast” by a national newspaper. Although you might bump into the likes of Stephen Fry, a better reason to pay this up market gastropub a visit is to sample its breezy cheerfulness and some great food. Owner Mark Dorber is passionate about beer and has paired ales to most of the dishes on the menu. Try a bottle of Sierra Nevada Pale Ale with seared scallops, puy lentil vinaigrette and bacon or a glass of Adnams Best Bitter with beer battered local haddock with hand cut chips, pease pudding and a spicy jalapeno tartare sauce. Bring the kids along to enjoy the large sandy beach that's a short stroll through the pub’s grounds.
