Sebastians has been run as a homely but stylish restaurant and boutique hotel for over 20 years. Set in a 16th century inn, the décor remains sympathetic to tradition in the oak panelled dining room, with some modernising touches of terracotta paint, dark leather chairs and starched white tablecloths. The French language menu and food-themed art give a strong indication of the cuisine that is to follow. Expect complimentary canapés, amuse bouche and palette cleansers interspersed with light, but stoically French dishes such as roast breast of quail, frisee and grape salad with hazelnut dressing and loin of lamb with braised gem lettuce, fondant potato, creamed parsnips with a Madeira and tarragon sauce. Classic desserts beloved of Francophiles such as tarte tatin and clafoutis brings things to a close.
