This tiny neighbourhood restaurant a few miles from Padstow proves there is a dining scene beyond Rick Stein’s restaurants in North Cornwall. Located in a pretty coastal village, Rosel & Co sits just 24 people in its intimate dining room, which has been designed with a pleasing attention to detail. Hand-made wooden tables, simple white plates and local art are matched by a small, but perfectly formed menu, comprising three starters, three mains and one dessert option. Choices could include scallops with Jerusalem artichoke purée to start and a main of ox cheek with potato gratin and purple sprouting broccoli. Finish with chocolate truffle terrine. The concise wine list leans towards France, Italy and Spain with a peppering of fruity numbers from the New World.
