Roka

The robata grill is the central feature of this restaurant. Surrounded by a counter fashioned from rough hewn tree trunks diners can watch the theatre of their meal unfold as seafood, meat and vegetables are skilfully prepared. In the summer an al fresco vibe is achieved by sliding back the glass windows. A twelve course tasting menu is available which provides a good introduction to robatayaki cuisine for the uninitiated. Alternatively, you can select dishes from the a la carte menu which include superb quality sushi and sashimi, roka dishes such as beef, ginger and sesame dumplings and robata dishes such as black cod marinated in yuzu miso or lamb cutlets with Korean spices. Desserts combine Western and Eastern flavours and could include a peanut, vanilla and chocolate tsubo.
