Unless you happen to live nearby, The Red Lion in Chisenbury is a little off the beaten track and yet visitors flock from far and wide to sample British and French classic dishes put together with panache and precision. Enjoy the Wild Salmon ‘Ceviche’ served with Marinated Peppers, Avocado, Chilli and Coriander or the Caramelised Pork Belly with Summer Bean Cassoulet and Crackling. The transatlantic culinary team at the helm, Guy and Brittany Manning (both formerly of Per Se in New York) have transformed this old thatched inn, ditching the dingy wallpaper and carpet in favour of tasteful tiles and floorboards and some partially exposed timber walls. While this pub is now most definitely focused on food, one area of the bar is still set aside for regulars who want to pop in for a pint.
