'Casual fine dining' sounds like marketing nonsense, but chef Jason Atherton, formerly of Gordon Ramsay's Maze restaurant has made it a magnificent reality. Dishes such as escabeche of quail, chicken liver cream, nuts and seeds are as modern and refined as the vibe is laid back and fun; if you just fancy a snack, try tapas such as Cantabria anchovies on toast, parsley in the large, buzzy bar After your savoury courses, take a stool at the dessert bar where you can see stunning creations like the signature 'PBJ' (peanut butter parfait, cherry jam and creamed rice puffs) being assembled in the open pastry kitchen. The great value set lunch has quickly established itself as one of London's great gastronomic bargains.

London's Ten Restaurants with the Hottest Chefs by Andy Lynes
"Casual fine dining may sound like a contradiction in terms, but Jason Atherton pulls off the concept brilliantly at this smart but laid back restaurant and bar. The complex and delicious dishes might include escabeche of quail, chicken liver cream, nuts and seeds."
