This family owned and run 17th century country house hotel boasts an idyllic Dorset countryside setting and chef (and family member) Brian Prideaux-Brune’s cooking makes the most of the gastronomic bounty it contains. There's meat, vegetable and herbs from local farms, locally caught game and plenty of Dorset coast seafood. There's an elegant dining room overlooking the hotel's grounds in which to enjoy the regularly changing (and very reasonably priced) set menu which features straightforward and delicious dishes such as pigeon breasts on black pudding bubble and squeak. There's some daring combinations too such as a main course of Roast Guinea Fowl with Black Cherries and Cinnamon. The Sunday lunch that might include roast chicken with lemon and tarragon is a local tradition.
