There is an undeniable oriental charm to Nahm with its rose-gold gilded pillars contrasting with modern teak tables and chairs. It feels regal and the food, orchestrated by chef and Thai food aficionado David Thompson lives up to its surroundings as one of the best Thai restaurants in the world outside of Thailand itself. A meal begins with a thrilling bite of minced prawns and chicken simmered in palm sugar with deep fried shallots, garlic and peanuts served on pineapple and mandarins. Following on, a selection of main dishes could include cured pork and prawns simmered in coconut cream with grilled squid, pork crackling and white turmeric; aromatic curry of rabbit and butternut squash with cucumber relish and stir fried beef with chilli, dried prawns and apple aubergines.
