Mother India

Spread over three floors this restaurant offers a fine example of cuisine from India. The main dining room on the first floor has wooden panelling and leaded windows which is more befitting of a Victorian Scottish laird than an Indian rajah. The interesting menu proves there is so much more to Indian food than the ubiquitous onion bhajis and chicken tikka masala. Enticing aromas waft seductively from the kitchens as starters such as ginger crab and prawn dosa (a lentil rice pancake) are freshly prepared. The flavour sensation continues with a main dish for two people called Raan – a slowly cooked spiced leg of lamb finished with a sweet almond sauce and served with rice, raita and breads. Desserts could include a traditional kulfi ice cream.
