Michael’s is an unassuming, cosy neighbourhood restaurant in the heart of Birkdale village. Chef proprietor, Michael Wichman, sources the finest ingredients and local seasonal produce to create a vibrant modern cuisine with international influences. The philosophy of the kitchen is to provide unpretentious, well crafted food in a relaxed atmosphere. Starters might include a smoked haddock risotto, minted pea sauce and a free range poached egg, or seared king scallops with black pudding and a cauliflower purée. For the main course it would be typical to see dishes such as citrus monkfish wrapped in Parma ham, tomato risotto cake and purple broccoli or a simple Scottish sirloin steak. A well chosen wine list provides a good selection from the New and Old World.
