This sister restaurant to the acclaimed Melton's is located in a characterful old 17th century building in the heart of the city. Exposed stonework, bare floor boards, polished pale wood tables and modern chairs set the style for this buzzy bar and brasserie. Michael Hjort, chef proprietor, believes in sourcing the very finest ingredients, including local seasonal produce, to produce a blend of bistro food with international overtones. Classic moules marinieres or smoked fish salad vie with falafel and tapas among the starters. Main courses might include sea bass, wild garlic pesto, courgettes and vine tomatoes or an exotic Moroccan vegetable tagine with couscous and yoghourt. Desserts feature sticky toffee pudding and local artisan ice creams. An eclectic wine list has a good selection of well priced wines from both Old and New Worlds.
