With quotes in its online guestbook from local celebrities including Heston Blumenthal, Peter Jones and Chris Barrie from Red Dwarf, Maliks is clearly a favourite for Indian cuisine in the Maidenhead area. But the restaurant, which is situated in the village of Cookham, on the river Thames, with a second site in Gerrards Cross, has also received national acclaim, having won the title of Best Curry Restaurant South East for three consecutive years at the British Curry Awards from 2005-2008. The menu comprises of superior produce including red mullet, lamb and squid, combined with Indian spicing and ingredients. As well as poshed-up favourites like chicken tikka masala, Maliks offers refined, interesting Indian dishes such as Haash Shuganda – duckling breast with onion, ginger and garlic, cooked in a creamy coconut milk with light ground spice and garam massala.
