This busy gastropub is located within walking distance of Trent Bridge cricket ground, to which its name bears homage. Shabby chic with large squashy sofas, painted cast iron tables and retro wallpaper sets the atmosphere for this relaxed eating venue. Locally sourced fresh ingredients are demanded by the kitchen to produce traditional British food from breakfast to lunch, and brunch to dinner. Devilled whitebait and garlic mayonnaise or Ilkeston black pudding Scotch egg with celeriac coleslaw are typical starters, while main courses might offer slow roast pork belly, cider creamed leeks and butter beans or a simple rib eye steak, with dripping chips and blue cheese butter. There is a well chosen international wine list as well as a large selection of real ales and spirits.
