The Landgate Bistro offers a friendly welcome to anyone who decides to dine in small Georgian restaurant close to Rye’s medieval gateway. The majority of the ingredients used are sourced from producers in Sussex and Kent. The menu changes with the seasons but could include a local crab and gruyere tart to start. Fresh fish is a feature and may take the form of griddled turbot with chive hollandaise and sautéed coriander potatoes when the season and weather are right. Meat dishes might extend to shoulder and best end of Romney Marsh lamb served with French beans and potato gratin. Lemon tart and rich chocolate cake are house specialities on the pudding front. There are plenty of wines to choose from around the world with prices to suit all wallets.
