La Petite Maison

Despite the Gallic name, La Petite Maison’s heart lies in producing modern British food using excellent West Country produce to fine effect. A crisp whitewashed exterior reveals an equally slick dining room in this modestly sized restaurant. Starters such as seared pigeon breast on parsnip puree and warm foie gras with sweet wine, sultana and red onion compote are presented with great flare and hint and further good things to come. A light fillet of sea bass and monkfish with parsley potato cake, spaghetti of vegetables and a lobster sauce follows. A wine is suggested for each dessert such as a Coteaux du Layon Rablay to accompany a Cointreau and vanilla panacotta, with orange soaked in Cointreau and orange and nut shortbread biscuit.
