Jem and I

This modern European restaurant occupies a former bank but that is where the formality ends. Vibrant crimson walls, wood flooring and contemporary mahogany style tables and chairs make this a stylish and convivial place to eat. There is also a gallery upstairs from which you can survey the bar and kitchen area below. You could perhaps begin your meal with a glass of sparkling rose from Burgundy and a mini fish and chips canapé before embarking on devilled chicken livers with spicy sausage, shallots, sherry jus and polenta to start. Your main could be roast Gressingham duck breast with champ mash, French beans, carrots and blackberry jus with perhaps a classic Eton mess to finish. The wine list has an appealing selection predominantly from Europe.
