Jamie’s Italian shares many personality traits with its eponymous founder. It’s loud, busy, bustling, genuine and jolly. Windows are lined with trays of fresh pasta and hung with San Danielle hams. There’s a spray painted, urban-jungle feel running throughout the restaurant’s decor and the no booking policy for tables under six ensures the bar is bustling with waiting diners. Jamie’s Italian specialises in uncomplicated, rustic Italian food at competitive prices. All pasta is made on the premises, served alongside well sourced mains such as free-range marinated and char-grilled chicken with a warm tomato, olive, chilli and caper sauce and south coast fritto misto. The wine list is all-Italian and very affordable, as you’d expect from this purveyor of genuine Italian fare for the masses.
