Jamie’s Italian is a bustling restaurant set over two floors and enjoys an al fresco dining area. The kitchen is open plan, adding to the busy atmosphere, and serves simple, rustic Italian food in an informal setting. Jamie’s Italian spaghetti bolognese is an old classic that still delivers, while the rabbit ragu pappardelle is an example of Jamie’s take on Italian cuisine. The enormous spray-painted red dragon mural on the wall serves to remind that this is well and truly Cardiff. Jamie’s Italian aims to be a neighbourhood hangout and doesn’t accept bookings for tables of 8 or under. Instead, it allows locals and shoppers alike the freedom to stop by whenever they want, although this means there can be a wait to be seated.
