Howard’s House is a privately owned hotel, hidden away in unspoilt countryside in the heart of Wiltshire. The ancient honey coloured stone building has not been subjected to any modern tampering which shows in the simple elegance of the airy restaurant. Chef Nick Wentworth’s ethos is to source as much local meat, game, fish and seasonal produce as possible as well as the vegetables and herbs from the kitchen garden. The cuisine is modern British and the menu may feature a starter such as roasted foie gras, sweetcorn pancake, onion marmalade with basil shoots or an excitingly original main of fillet of turbot, thyme ravioli, fondant potato and oyster beignet. An extensive and well chosen wine list offers an interesting choice from both the New and Old worlds.
