Hidden by towering trees and draped in wisteria, Hipping Halls is an impressive 17th century building set within three acres of walled gardens on the Cumbria/Yorkshire border. The restaurant is located in the hotel’s medieval hall and retains the charm of the oak beams, open log fire, tapestries and a minstrel’s gallery and is given a fresh contemporary feel with the clean walls, wooden floors, white linen table cloths and fresh flowers. The dishes are crafted to bring out strong rustic flavours with enough finesse that all the individual components are identifiable. The seven course tasting menu is a gastromonic treat and includes scallop, salsify and truffle, Goosnargh duck parfait and leg with Mango and fillet of halibut, crayfish, shellfish and offers wines to match each course.
