The distinctive white and blue facade of this harbour side hotel makes it an easy landmark to spot. There is a capable bistro on the ground floor but it’s the first floor restaurant that steals the show and the best views of Harwich quay and the contributing estuaries. Before dinner guests can sip a glass of champagne in the polished pewter bar before entering the buff and cream toned restaurant with comfortable leather banquettes. Seafood is the mainstay of the menu with perhaps dressed crab with Waldorf salad and a dill mayonnaise to start and roasted monkfish in pancetta with caper and prawn linguine for a main. If you can’t choose between vanilla cheesecake and chocolate torte, a small selection of the chef’s desserts is also available.
