The Hammer and Pincers is the sort of rural pub that offers an eight course grazing menu (and at £45 a head, one that offers exceptional value). That’s not surprising when you learn that owners Sandra and Danny Jimminson learnt their trade at the Savoy Hotel in London. The interior successfully fused exposed beams and brickwork with linen covered tables and dramatic modern art. Dishes such as braised pig cheek, pancetta and red wine ragu with chilli roasted peppers, stropazetti pasta and herb crackling crumb reflect a kitchen willing to go the extra mile to delight their customers. Foodies will enjoy the monthly Sunday evening cookery demos followed by a dinner of the demonstrated dishes.
