Green's Dining Room, 25 Zetland Road, Bristol

This independent eatery has earned itself a Bib Gourmand in the Michelin Guide for its “convivial atmosphere and unfussy Brit/Med dishes” and has a daily changing menu showcasing carefully selected, often local produce. It’s run by brothers Simon and Andrew Green, who cite Jane Grigson, Elizabeth David and Claudia Roden among their culinary influences and have a collective CV spanning the likes of Chez Bruce, Alastair Little, The River Café and the Brackenbury in London and The Glassboat and Riverstation in Bristol. Dishes are natural and ingredient-led, with starters like Cornish crab tortellini with samphire, lemon and herbs sitting nicely alongside robust main courses such as confit belly of pork with pea, pancetta and mint risotto. Desserts entice with the likes of plum Baba with vanilla ice cream.
