Golden Lion

An 18th century stone house overlooking the old market cross in the small Yorkshire village of Osmotherly is home to this restaurant with rooms. White washed walls, oak beams, and a raised, open log fire set the tone for this welcoming and traditional inn. Bar and restaurant are located in the same open plan space with wooden settles and uncovered wooden tables. The kitchen uses locally sourced ingredients to produce a no nonsense bourgeois cuisine with nods to England, France and Italy. A typical menu might include starters of a rough pate with onion and apricot relish or goat’s cheese, chorizo and red pepper salad with harissa dressing followed by salmon fishcake, chive beurre blanc or steak and kidney with suet crust. Local ales join an eclectic wine list to provide a good drinking choice.
