Founder of the Browns restaurant chain Jeremy Mogford’s restored grade II listed Victorian conservatory restaurant is something of an Oxford institution. The beautifully light and airy glass dining room is tastefully furnished in muted Lloyd Loom and starched linen, setting off the Victorian chequerboard tiling and Jeremy’s numerous original Gary Hume paintings. Gee’s is a sophisticated brasserie with an intelligent menu of salads, pastas, slow cooked roasts and grills. Chose from the likes of pigeon breast and leg with apple and celeriac rosti and beetroot sauce or roasted veal loin, shank ravioli and buttered spinach. Much of the meat is sourced from Jeremy’s own Oxfordshire farm and all the fish is flown from Jersey twice a week. Set Sunday lunch is good value and incredibly popular, as are the Sunday evening live jazz sessions.
