The impressive view of Chatsworth house or the fine art adorning the walls decorated in soft shades of copper and gold could make the Gallery restaurant feel stuffy and formal. Yet the result is a welcoming, elegant restaurant with imaginative modern British food to match. Dishes such as the lobster bisque with wasabi foam and anchovy straws are intricately presented. Chatsworth Estate venison loin is paired with a rich cherry sauce, parsnip puree and tarteflette potato for the main. Vegetarians don't go neglected with an alternative take on the classic Beef Wellington using Yorkshire blue cheese served with Jerusalem artichoke 'Anna potatoes' and spring cabbage. A chocolate delice with malt whisky ice cream and sea salted caramel is waiting in the wings for the final encore.
