Fifteen London

Although this very buzzy Italian is partly run by the apprentices working under Jamie Oliver’s Fifteen Foundation scheme for disadvantaged young people, you’d never guess it. Set in a grand old building near Old Street, the formal basement restaurant and ground floor trattoria run like clockwork. Fifteen London serves up tasty, seasonal food so expect the daily changing menu to feature dishes like freshly-picked Devonshire crab on toasted sourdough with lentils di Castelluccio and Sicilian fisherman’s stew. The bar team headed by Alex Thorp serve some of the most inventive cocktails in town and there’s an excellent selection of Italian wines. Oliver’s name continues to be a big draw so booking is essential.
